Robert Pattinson Calls ‘New Moon’ Depressing & Strange

British actor Robert Pattinson, 22, told Reuters that the Twilight sequel: New Moon is depressing and strange.

“The book of ‘New Moon,’ the majority of it is incredibly depressing,” Pattinson told Reuters. “Obviously ‘Twilight’ was about finding first love and the difficulties of that, but ‘New Moon’ is really about loss and reconciliation, but the reconciliation isn’t completely full. It’s a strange story to have for a market that, I guess, wants to see a love story,” he said.

Sources tell EW that Summit Entertainment, the studio behind Twilight, is talking to its favorite vampire, Robert Pattinson, about starring in the project Memoirs.

Neither the studio nor Pattinson’s agents would confirm the star’s involvement. The spec script, from young writer Will Fetters, which wound up on 2008’s Black List, centers on two college students who have both experienced personal loss, who fall in love and heal their fractured families.

Hollywoodland director Allen Coulter is negotiating to direct the script and screenwriter Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) is working on the rewrite. Pattinson is currently in preproduction on the Twilight sequel New Moon and is already signed on to the third film in the series, Eclipse.

The Story Behind Twilight

I get a ton of questions about how I came up with the story of Twilight and how I got it published. I may be killing my FAQ page by doing this, but here is the whole story:

(Warning: there are Twilight spoilers contained in the following; if you don't want to ruin the suspense, stop reading.....now. Warning #2: As you might have guessed from the length of my book, I can't tell a short story—this is going to take a while. You have been warned.)

The Writing: I know the exact date that I began writing Twilight, because it was also the first day of swim lessons for my kids. So I can say with certainty that it all started on June 2, 2003. Up to this point, I had not written anything besides a few chapters (of other stories) that I never got very far on, and nothing at all since the birth of my first son, six years earlier.

Robert Pattinson Reveals Pre-Twilight Gym Obsession

Robert Pattinson may not have become the global heartthrob we know and admire today had he not taken the advice of Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke to ease up on his gruelling workout regime.

The Brit actor says he trained for up to five hours a day in a bid to get in shape for his breakthrough movie role – and ended up looking like a Victoria Beckham-style lolly pop head.

“I used to go to the gym for about five hours a day, but then I started losing so such weight,” he tells Entertainment Weekly.

“My head started to look really huge in comparison to the rest of my body.

“(Catherine Hardwicke) came up to me and said, ‘What are you doing to yourself?’”

Thankfully Rob took his director's advice and began to pack the pounds back on, although it wasn't always easy.

“(To gain weight) I literally stopped exercising,” he reveals.

“Eating a cheeseburger after two-and-a-half months of doing that - it tasted like ambrosia.”

Robert Thomas-Pattinson (born 13 May 1986) is an English actor, model and musician.

Early life

Pattinson was born in London, England. His mother, Clare, worked for a modeling agency, and his father, Richard, imported vintage cars from the U.S. He became involved in amateur theatre through the Barnes Theatre Company. After some backstage experience there, he took on acting roles. He caught the attention of an acting agent in a production of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and began looking for professional roles. Since then he has performed in an amateur version of Macbeth at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre, as well as trying his hand at modeling.

Modeling

He began his modeling career when he was twelve years old, but it wound down only four years later. He has blamed his lack of work as a model on his masculine appearance. Pattinson explained in December of 2008, "When I first started I was quite tall and looked like a girl, so I got lots of jobs, because it was during that period where the androgynous look was cool. Then, I guess, I became too much of a guy, so I never got any more jobs. I had the most unsuccessful modeling career." Pattinson appeared in the advertising campaign for Hackett's Autumn 2007 collection.

Acting career

He had supporting roles in the made for television film Ring of the Nibelungs in 2004, and in director Mira Nair’s Vanity Fair, although his scenes in the latter were deleted, and only appear on the DVD version. In May 2005 he was slated to appear in the UK premiere of The Woman Before at the Royal Court Theatre, but was fired shortly before the opening night and was replaced by Tom Riley.

Later that year he played Cedric Diggory in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Consequently, he was named that year's British Star of Tomorrow by Times Online.He also has more than once been touted as the next Jude Law.

Pattinson plays Edward Cullen in the movie Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel of the same name, which was released on November 21, 2008 in North America. According to TV Guide, Pattinson was initially apprehensive about auditioning for the role of Edward Cullen, fearful that he wouldn't be able to live up to the "perfection" expected from the character.

He has lead roles in the the forthcoming feature films Little Ashes (in which he plays Salvador Dalí), How To Be (a British comedy) and the short film The Summer House. He is also set to reprise his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, with filming slated to begin in March 2009.

Musical career

Pattinson plays guitar and piano, and composes his own music. He also appears as the singer of two songs on the Twilight soundtrack: "Never Think", which he co-wrote with Sam Bradley,and "Let Me Sign", which was written by Marcus Foster and Bobby Long. The songs were included in the film after director Catherine Hardwicke added Pattinson's recordings into an early cut without his knowledge, and he agreed that "one of them specifically, it really made the scene better. It was like it was supposed to be there." Aside from recording for the soundtrack, Pattinson has said, "I've never really recorded anything - I just played in pubs and stuff", and when asked about a professional music career, he said, "Music is my back-up plan if acting fails." In 2008, he also performed with his first girlfriend's current boyfriend's band, called "Bad Girls".
