]]> At this point, you should have already read: Part 1.

It’s really very easy to write a reaction paper, makinig kayo sa lola. As discussed dun sa Part 1, nag-kaka-iba lang sya sa BODY of your reaction paper. Now, if you are familiar doing a Book Review Report, then walang pinag-kaiba to sa Book Report.

So, where do you start?

1. Start by reading the SONA 2008. Saan pa nga ba. Wag Kislap. Or listen to it then take notes. A lot of notes. Ang haba eh.

2. As you read the SONA 2008, identify the topic being discussed. Por ejemplo, if it talks about money, it’s Economy. This way, you could easily see that she touched this topic and that topic and you’d know kung what topics were left out.

3.) When done, review the notes you made and see if you find some patterns of any kind.

If I am the one writing a reaction paper, I will write a reaction on the speech based on just two (2) factors:

If I were you, ibasura ko na ang bwisit na SONA 2008 na yan, maligo, manghilod, mag-lagay nang pomada, pahiran nang krudo ang sepatos at umarangkada na at mag-fill up nang application dahil 120 new immigration officers would be needed once NAIA 3 opens in full, expected to come in six to eight months as airport management continued repair and completion work in the facility.

Nai-i-imagine ko ang mga bio-data, resume nyo. Sa dami nang anak nang ~~tatay~~, nanay mo pala, mukhang term paper na ang resume mo. O baka magkamali ka, SONA 2008 Reaction Paper pala ang nai-submit mo. Ilang resume na rin ang na-review ko hehehe ang unang error that I always notice eh yong pag-dating sa “email” at madalas pa rin me nakikita akong: “hotgurl69@yahoo.com” o kaya “hotm4m@gmail.com”. Hehehe! Sure ang lola, indi NAIA3 ang ina-aplayan mo.

“ Ooops! He did it again !” This is what I don’t like from McCain. Obviously, their campaign can’t seem to stand the overwhelming popularity of Senator Barack Obama, by blasting one the most negative attacks in his campaign, which flashes shots of the two megacelebrities, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears — calls Obama a megacelebrity, too, and questions his leadership ability. What about the leadership ability of the 72 year old McCain, confused about what he is talking about and don’t have any firm stand on almost any issue? It boggles my mind! Let me show you!

Continuing with the Sona… here’s the SONA 2008 Summary pointers. Let me start by giving you an example of world prices… on steel. Now, recall that the Chinese economy grew double digit for the last 10 years or more. That was consistent. Recall that even the Indian economy grew rapidly as well. Because both of those two giant economies have booming construction, demand for steel went to the stratosphere. Result? Unbelievably high prices for construction materials, especially steel. Look into the United States. At a time when the country was hit by sub-prime, housing construction went down. You would think that because construction in the United States went down, steel prices would go down as well. Answer? NO, it didn’t. Why? The effect of the global demand for steel.

Let’s look at rice. It is NOT TRUE THAT THERE IS A WORLD CRISIS IN RICE. If there is a shortage, it was artificial. Why? Because of the restrictions placed on rice exportation by some nations. Now that you have an idea of the GLOBAL factor in this issue, let’s get back to SONA 2008.

]]> Mga kunichiwa, here’s what I have about SONA 2008. Ang haba kasi nang litanya pantasya nang Gloria. Here’s the first part.

Just a few months ago, we ended 2007 with the strongest economic growth in a generation. Inflation was low, the peso strong and a million new jobs were created. We were all looking to a better, brighter future.

ECONOMIC GROWTH:
Indeed, the Philippines recorded economic growth for 2007 was 7.3%. It’s a tricky GDP calculation, you must know. Why? Consider the almost $14 billion of OFW remittances. Now, while the remittances (according to them) were not included in the calculation of the GDP, what about consumer spending or private consumption? Let’s go back to the GDP discussion. I could agree with the statement that OFW remittances were excluded from the calculation because money flowing in could be easily be accounted for by the banks. Easy enough to exclude, agree? But how do you exclude OFW remittances when they become “C” as in, private consumption, as in monies spent? Difficult isn’t it? My point is, GDP calculation included consumption, the “C” in the GDP formula which means, income equals consumption. My point, that $14 billion spent by OFW families went back to the GDP formula as part of “C” meaning, part of the 7.3% is still OFW remittances. Anybody care to dis-agree, please enlighten me! But the bigger question becomes, how’s the unemployment rate? Did this economic growth fueled more job creation? Remember, the unemployment rate in 2007 went to 7.4%. So what was the 7.3% growth then, was it real?

In attendance were members of the diplomatic corps. Only Miriam Santiago and Antonio Trillanes were absent as well as Jose de Venecia, Jr. Prayer led by Angara, national anthem naman was the UP Madrigal Singers. Wow, para pala syang Broadway Musical. As 1st time Speaker, Nograles delivered a speech. Laman nang speech? He was telling his colleagues to “live simply” and use government resources “wisely and judiciously”. Wow, eh matagal naman nang wise ang mga yan eh! They all drive luxury cars with those annoying weng-weng! Living simply talaga.

Busy rin ang mga kabataan. Most of them staged classroom walkouts and headed to Tandang Sora before heading to Commonwealth Avenue for the SONA 2008. Ewan, siguro me drama din sila dun. Participating schools include University of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University, De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, and Arellano University, among others.
